IPL 2025 Auction: The Indian Stars in a Bidding Frenzy

Jeddah, Saudi Arabia: Sizzling bidding wars filled the IPL 2025 auction as franchises splurged heavy money on the best Indian talent. Rishabh Pant emerged as the costliest Indian buy in the history of the IPL, with Lucknow Super Giants signing him for a record ₹27 crore. Shreyas Iyer was another expensive Indian buy when Punjab Kings signed him for ₹26.75 crore.

Some of the significant other deals involved were that of Venkatesh Iyer’s joining the Kolkata Knight Riders for ₹23.75 crores, Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s move to Royal Challengers Bangalore for ₹10.75 crores, and Deepak Chahar joining Chennai Super Kings for ₹9.25 crores.

On Day 1, a total of 72 players were sold at an auction that saw a total expenditure of ₹467.95 crore. Several young Indian talents also attracted great interest; players like Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad were sold for high sums of money.

While names like David Warner and Devdutt Padikkal remain unsold, the auction as a whole reflects the immense value that is being placed on Indian talent into the IPL. With the league now expanding to 10 teams, it will be more competitive for top players in the years to come.
