The Department of Posts, India has implemented Deen Dayal Sparsh Yojana (Scholarship for Promotion of Aptitude and Research in Stamps as a Hobby) among students from classes 6 to 9, aiming to promote philately or the collection and study of postage stamps.
A merit-based scholarship of ₹ 6,000 every year is paid as ₹500 per month to such students who excel in structured examinations and a philately project of the scholarship programme.
Objectives of the scholarship
A scholarship is designed to:

Competition Structure
Written Test
- 20 marks for all philately-related knowledge
- 25 marks for general knowledge topics, which include news, history, geography, science, sports, culture, etc.
Stamp Collection Project
- For the project, students would have to present their stamp collection using creativity, research skills, and an understanding of various philately themes.
