0 The All India Council for Technical Education has issued a notice as regards widespread circulation of fake news on a supposed “Pradhan Mantri Free Laptop Scheme” or “AICTE Free Laptop Scheme.” The official notification says that AICTE has not floated any such scheme and the information circulating is completely false.
The Problem
Huge misinformation has been spread in media social circles and unofficial websites that free laptops are being distributed, misleading the students and the institutions. The fake message is that AICTE or the Government of India is offering free laptops to students registered in technical courses under a centrally sponsored scheme.
Statement of AICTE
AICTE Circular, signed by Member Secretary Prof. Rajive Kumar emphasis as follows:
- This Scheme Is Non-existent: There is no “Pradhan Mantri Free Laptop Scheme” or “AICTE Free Laptop Scheme” under operation.
- Verify: Students and institutions are advised to obtain information from authentic sources such as the AICTE website.
- Report False News: In case of any false news related to such schemes, it must be brought to the notice of the AICTE so that appropriate action may be initiated immediately.

Be Informed: Visit AICTE website to get updated with authentic scholarship and student benefit programs.
Do Not Forward Unverified News: Do not forward any unverified message or participate in fake schemes that request personal or financial information.
