0 All ten teams have finalized their core strength for the upcoming season of TATA Indian Premier League 2025 and the deadline for retention is over. A total of 46 players have been retained and thus an aggregate investment stands at INR 558.5 crores.
The salary cap for each team is INR 120 crore in this mega auction, with the facility to assemble a 25-player squad. The players that can be retained would be up to six of them, which could be retained either through retention or through Right to Match. And there can be five capped internationals and two uncapped Indian players.
Champions of last season Kolkata Knight Riders and first season winner Rajasthan Royals are opting for complete retention. They have retained six members from each of their squad. Five teams have retained five players each: Chennai Super Kings, Gujarat Titans, Lucknow Super Giants, Mumbai Indians, and Sunrisers Hyderabad. Delhi Capitals, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, and Punjab Kings (PBKS) have retained four, three, and two members from each of their respective squads.
With INR 110.5 crore in their purse, PBKS will enter the mega auction with the largest budget.
